Abstract

Thirteen letters written by Henry Lowenstein while living in Whipsnade, Durnstable, England to his parents and half-sister. A few are before the family had immigrated but the majority are when the family is in Pennsylvania. Eleven letters are hand written and two are typed. The letters range in date from May 5, 1946-December 29, 1946. Most the letters are addressed to Mauchen (Maria) but are directed at the entire family.

Abstract Jacob Fleischer (1846/7-?, Ancestry.com) was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States between 1865 and 1870. He was naturalized in 1871, in Morgan County, Illinois. In 1882, Fleischer married Rosa Harthleimer (sp?) Fleischer in Colorado. Jacob purchased a parcel of seven lots in Denver on what is now stretching from Alameda north down Leyden. Ruth Cluff (1912-1990), wrote an account of her grandmother Devoira Brox Lassett's (1864-1940) immigration to the United States from Poland in 1890. Cluff's mother Bertha came to Denver from New York in 1927 to receive treatment for Tuberculosis at the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society.

Abstract

Western Union telegram from Henry Lowenstein to his family at 924 Cemetery Street in Williamsport, Pa. Message says "Sailing tomorrow Marine Falcon expect to arrive 20 June Love to all -Henry." Telegram message is pasted on the on the the official Western Union form.
